This November we are remembering and celebrating the life of Kathy Scharbarth, the namesake of our foundation. November 24th is the 6th year anniversary of her murder and marks what would have been her 40th birthday. Kathy was a woman full of love and light and was surrounded by people who loved her. She was passionate about everything she did in life from spending time with her daughter and family, snuggling with her dog, and growing her furniture business.
Tragically, her life was cut short on Thanksgiving Day, her 34th birthday, by an abusive ex-boyfriend whom she had a restraining order against. The abrupt loss of her life was devastating for her family who vowed to take the loss of Kathy and the lessons learned to help other victims of intimate partner violence.
Kathy’s death is a sad reminder of how deadly domestic violence can be. Kathy’s legacy is to turn her tragedy into a source of hope and renewal for families impacted by domestic violence. From raising awareness about intimate partner violence to direct support to victims and their families, Kathy’s Legacy Foundation is changing lives: one child, one family at a time.
This month we are raising awareness about the fatal nature of domestic abuse so this won't be anyone else’s story. In Kathy's memory we are raising funds to help support the many victims who are dealing with the scars from living in an abusive home.
Please join us in donating $4, $40, $400, or $4000 to celebrate the life and legacy of Kathy.
